Vehicle Tier List

This list ranks Lumberjack’s Dynasty machines by how soon they earn their Euro back on a 1.0 save. Pair it with the vehicles guide for unlocks and with make money for the SP discount. Full prices below are the commonly recorded dealer tags (full Euro / half Euro + SP). Quest machines are listed as Unlock.

S tier

Isaac’s old wood trailer (Unlock) — The first crane. Without it you are not a lumberjack, you are a porter.

Oliver’s old tractor (Unlock) — Pulls that trailer. Keep it until a Gecko is cheaper than your time.

Grapple Crane Wood Trailer (~21,000 / 10,500 + 21,000 SP) — The first buy that feels like 1.0. Loads faster, holds more, still legal only inside yellow lines.

Stump grinder (~4,500 / ~2,500 + 4,500 SP) and tree planter (~6,500 / 3,250 + 6,500 SP) — Tiny prices, required for replant quests and for forests that should pay twice. Carson’s Timberjack job expects them.

Old Timberjack (Unlock via Carson) — Mid-game harvest spike. S because it is a quest machine that behaves like a paid harvester.

Ponsse Scorpion (~180,000 / 90,000 + 180,000 SP) — Licensed harvester. S when the mill can dry what you fell. C if you buy it broke.

A tier

Ponsse Cobra (~192,000 / 96,000 + 192,000 SP) — Ten extra horsepower over Scorpion (about 130 vs 120) and a larger fuel tank. Buy if SP is overflowing and Scorpion is already the plan.

Ponsse Bison (~165,000 / 82,500 + 165,000 SP) — Forwarder. A if cutting is easy and hauling is not. Does not replace a harvester.

High Capacity Forklift (~4,000 / 2,000 + 4,000 SP) — Pallet life at the mill. Cheap A.

Gecko Smart 49et (~79,000 / 38,000–39,500 + SP) and Gecko Smart 431et class (~90,000 / half + SP, ~144 hp, 145 L) — When the old tractor wheezes. A, not day-one.

Gecko Strong 09 (~68,000 / 34,000 + 68,000 SP) — Cheaper tractor rung.

Fliegl DK 110-88 (~18,000 / 9,000 + 18,000 SP) — Bark, dump, bulk. A if you actually sell bark.

Pickup 4x4 (~12,000 / 6,000 + 12,000 SP) — Map travel and marriage commutes. A for comfort, C for logging.

B tier

Platform truck (~24,000 / 12,000 + 24,000 SP) — Pallet runs. Useful, not exciting.

Old pickup (Unlock) — Keep as a spare car. Do not log with it.

Old forklift (Unlock) — Trade-in fuel for the high-capacity forklift or keep as a second lift.

Old log transporter (Unlock / low stats) — Stopgap forwarder.

C tier

Buggy (~14,000 / 7,000 + 14,000 SP) — Fast, useless in a stand. Speeder achievement bait (100 km/h) maybe.

Steert 12L mower (~8,000 / 4,000 + 8,000 SP) — Lawn. Buy when Rich man is done.

Buying any Ponsse before a crane trailer — Not a machine; a mistake. Ranked here so the header search still finds it.

Dealer cheat sheet

Community tables tag lots as NE, SW, or both. Scorpion often SW/NE, Cobra NE, Bison SW. If a lot is empty, drive to the other one before you assume a patch removed the machine. The video on this page is a shopping-and-upgrade session, not a speedrun.

Tow from the map icon if a machine clips through a bridge. The Ponsse update fixed some of those sinks; consoles still misbehave, see console release.

Mechanic ranks vs tiers

Owning more pieces raises mechanic skill, which unlocks paint and parts. That can tempt you to buy C-tier toys to grind ranks. Buy a second useful trailer instead. Ranks will follow. Workshop upgrades on an S-tier crane beat a buggy with a special engine.

Forests: tree tier list. What you haul: product tier list. Hands-on roles: vehicles. If the saw is the bottleneck, not the truck, you need logging more than a Bison.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

What is the first vehicle I should buy with cash?

A better crane trailer after Isaac's quest loader. Then forklift, grinder, planter. Ponsse last.

Is Cobra always better than Scorpion?

Slightly more power and fuel for more Euro. If you can only afford one harvester, Scorpion is enough.

Why is the buggy C tier?

It does not haul logs or pallets. Buy it for fun after the mill prints money.

Do quest vehicles count for Collector?

Yes. Collector is five vehicles, Master collector is ten. Quest junk plus a few dealer buys will get you there.
